Getting to Lake Mendota from AmericInn Hotel & Suites Madison South takes a matter of minutes. And you can't miss it because of its size. It covers nearly 9,800 acres. Bordering the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the lake boasts many boat launching areas as well as two big marinas. Along the banks of this popular body of water, you'll find protected natural spaces and quite a few parks. Several sailing clubs are also based on the lake.

What kind of fish are in Lake Mendota?
When you cast your line, you’ll have the opportunity to come away with a wide variety of fish. The 83-foot-deep lake is home to everything from small- and large-mouth bass, walleye, and catfish to musky, northern pike, sturgeon, and panfish.
How many boat launches are there?
Lake Mendota has 10 boat launches, each with varying numbers of vehicle stalls. Marshal Park Boat Ramp and Warner Park Boat Ramp feature 25 stalls while Tenney Park Boat Ramp has 16-20. Governor Nelson S.P. Boat Landing is home to 11-15 stalls and Governors Island, Mendota County Park Boat Launch, and Middleton Boat Ramp have 6-10. Willow Drive Boat Launch and Spring Harbor Park Boat Ramp come in at 1-5 stalls and Lake Street Boat Ramp has none.
